Where configuration is the product

Manufacturing CPQ looks different in machinery, HVAC, pumps, electrical equipment, vehicles, medical devices, agriculture and material handling. The useful questions are which parameters, which constraints, which BOM and which engineering outputs.

Industry pages will stay specific. They will not be a generic CPQ article with the sector name replaced.

Industrial machinery

Frames, duty classes, options, specials and dealer configuration. High variant counts and mixed CTO/ETO are common.

HVAC

Airflow, static pressure, coils, filtration, voltage and controls. Configuration often sits next to selection software and drawings.

Pumps and valves

Hydraulics, materials, seals, drives and standards. Invalid combinations are a technical problem, not a catalog problem.

Electrical equipment

Ratings, enclosures, form factors, switchgear and documentation packages.

Medical equipment

Configured systems with regulatory documentation, options and service parts discipline.

Automotive / specialty vehicles

Chassis, bodies, powertrains and option constraints across dealer and factory processes.

Construction equipment

Attachments, hydraulics, regional standards and production variants.

Agriculture

Implements, power, widths and seasonal configuration through dealer networks.

Material handling

Spans, loads, environments and system-level configuration across conveyors, cranes and storage.
